"Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed him mercy." Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Luke 10:36-37
Jesus cared for and healed countless people during his time on this earth, and he did so freely and without demands. Everyday we encounter people who have needs, and Jesus has called us to be people that respond to those needs, to be a neighbor to others. One of our goals as a church is to allow people time and energy and money to be a neighbor to co-workers, friends, family, classmates, and strangers they meet along the way. We will have failed as a church if we consume so many resources from people that they are not left with an hour, a hug, an encouraging word, or a meal to give to their neighbor.
